Who we are

Sheila Mahoney, Owner, Senior Editor, Certified Copy Editor
Treasurer, Secretary and voting member of the Editors’ Association of Canada

With over 20 years of editing experience in a broad range of subjects, Sheila has good general knowledge and very specific knowledge in financial research and mutual fund reporting requirements. She also does manuscript evaluations for writers looking to self-publish or to market their book or book idea to publishers.

Sheila has edited and proofread medical journals and books, an electronics magazine and annual reports. Her fields of interest are alternative medicine, fitness, wellness and stress management, as well as environmental issues and conservation.

She has significant substantive and copy editing experience in financial research, both in-house and as a freelancer, and has worked with mutual fund companies and large, bank-owned investment firms, as well as small- and mid-sized financial organizations.

Her work includes:

• Copy editing and proofreading books, both self-published and traditionally published

• Evaluating manuscripts

• Copy editing stock market research reports on a wide variety of industries

• Designing and developing Word templates to standardize and simplify document production

• Coordinating production of reports and presentations

• Assessing and realigning procedures for efficient, accurate document production

• Collaborative writing for websites, brochures and booklets

• Teaching writing basics for financial research reporting and more general fields

Sheila has a Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree in Psychology and Sociology from the University of Toronto. Her other qualifications and certifications include: Certified Copy Editor (EAC), Canadian Securities Course, Second Wind Pilates Plus and Integrated Movement Therapies instructor, and 3-D WORKOUT Instructor.
